The Homewood Public Library District Board meets monthly on the third Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the second floor meeting room.  There are occasionally other community meetings, events or trustee workshops to attend.
Your role is to become part of a team – the library board – which adopts an effective set of policies and hires a qualified person to run the library.

Library Trustees have three basic duties:
1.    Policy-making and planning - to establish and revise policies, through careful study and thoughtful discussion, that determine the proper course of action.
2.    Finance - to advise and approve budgets, seeing that the library has the necessary funds available to run the library.  To promote referendums and bond levies if necessary, stimulating gifts and endowments.
3.    Community Relations - to see that the community understands the goals and objectives of the library, to promote good public relations whenever possible.

Other duties include the selection of the administrative librarian, maintenance of property, cooperation with public officials and other organizations, and awareness of community changes, trends, needs and interests.
