Book Discussion Groups

The Parent Child Book Discussion Group meets the first Thursday of each month.  4th - 6th graders and their caregivers are invited to join.

New this year is the multigenerational group, Crossovers.  For ages 11 - 111, this group will meet four times a year to discuss books that all ages will find engaging.

SD 153 Art Reflections

The Library is proud to announce the annual Reflection Art Show featuring the amazing talents of grade school children from School District 153.  An open house  featuring cookies and punch will be held March 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Bundle up your family and come to the library to enjoy the awesome creativity of our local children.

Field Days is a hands-on learning experience that brings the wonders of the Field Museum to you!  You must register for each month's program at the Youth Desk or by phone.  This program is for 3rd-6th graders.

Art Club

Feeling creative?  Want to ban those winter blues?  Come to Art Club!  Past projects have included collage, painting, and holiday pop-up cards.  This program, which meets monthly, is for 3rd-6th graders.  No pre-registration is necessary.

Patch Club

Patch Club continues through May, 2009.

Peek-A-Book

Peek-A-Book is a new interactive touchscreen system that inspires children to explore books in new ways.

PeekaBook

With headphones on, children are introduced to books by Billy the Bookworm who tells children what part of the screen to touch to activate one of 6 special rotating book presentations. We're currently showcasing: Bugs for Lunch, Hello Ocean, Trucks: Whizz! Zoom! Rumble!, Madeline in London, What Are You So Grumpy About?, and You Read To Me, I'll Read To You.

Special thanks to the Friends of the Homewood Public Library for funding this popular addition to our colorful kids area!
