Armchair Travel
Let the Library be your passport to adventure

as we take you to various locals--some breathtaking, some exotic, all of them interesting! Join us the third Tuesday of every month at 10:30 a.m. as we travel the world.

 

Lunch and a Movie
Please join us every third Tuesday of the month at noon, for a big screen presentation of some of your favorite movies

from the past. Feel free to bring a sack lunch...the Library provides snacks, dessert, and beverages.

 

 

Discussion Programs

Film Discussion Group
The Film Discussion Group meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. to talk about classic and contemporary films.
 
Shakespeare Group
This group meets on the first and third Monday of every month at 1:00 to read and discuss the works of William Shakespeare.
 
Book Discussion Groups
With all the Book Discussion Groups available, you are sure to find one that fits your needs. Please check the Book Discussion Page for times and descriptions of the various groups.
 
Story Keepers
The past comes alive once more, as the Story Keepers share their experiences of years gone by.  Join us from 10:00 a.m. until noon the fourth Monday of every month as we unfold the rich tapestry that is our past. Check the Library calendar for exact dates.
 
 

Craft Programs

Open Knitting
Starting in September, the Open Knitting group  will meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Mabel Murphy Meeting Room.

Card Making 101
The card making workshop is one of our most popular programs. Pre-registration is needed, and fees apply.

Scrapbooking Class
Our card making expert will share with us her techniques for making amazing scrapbook pages.

Chess & ScrabbleThe first and third Saturday of every month, the Library hosts open Chess and Scrabble competition for players of all ages and abilities. Noon to 4:00 p.m.

Homewood Historical Society Programs

The Library has joined forces with the Homewood Historical Society to bring you programs of historical interest.

 

Chicago Flower and Garden Show at Navy Pier-March 9th
The Chicago Flower & Garden Show will blossom along Chicago’s lakefront.

The BELGARD Chicago Flower and Garden Show offers something for everyone. From the intricately designed lush themed-gardens of the midway, to hands-on demonstrations and in-the-soil workshops, to realistic garden displays that can translate into your own yard or balcony and educate you about sustainable and achievable results, you will find Chicago’s first blush with spring to be invigorating.

Price: $35.00 (this includes transportation and ticket cost).

This trip will depart from the H-F Racquet & Fitness Club, North Side of Parking Lot at 9am, with a return time at 3pm.

 This trip is offered in partnership with the Homewood Flossmoor Park District.

Registration Deadline: February 24. You may register at the Homewood Library or the Homewood/Flossmoor Park District.
